Account Executive Role

The Account Executive is a member of the Commercial Lines team dedicated to a specialized industry providing consultation, service and strategy to clients located across the USA. This individual is responsible for the retention and growth of an assigned book of business as well as the management of an assigned service team.

 

Client-Facing Expectations

• Establish credibility by developing sustainable relationships with senior-level client personnel and be recognized as a trusted advisor by clients, Odell Studner leadership, and peers.
• Collaborate with client executives and organizational leaders to identify opportunities to provide risk management consultation (risk reduction and/or mitigation) through traditional insurance, alternative risk transfer, loss control strategies, and claims management programs.
• Proactively touch base with clients regarding business performance, any problem areas they are experiencing, identify more potential engagement points, etc.
• Facilitate goal setting with assigned clients to better understand each client’s business goals, how they measure success, and how we can help them achieve and track such goals.
• Act as a conduit to facilitate opportunities to other internal departments.
• Improve client relationships with insurance carrier partners by facilitating meetings and coordinating activities which maximize product awareness and service delivery between the carrier and client.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop marketing and retention strategies for all accounts and clearly communicate such strategies to service team members for execution.
  • Communicate renewal strategy and expectations to the client well in advance of the renewal, while also ensuring there are no major shifts in business model, no major changes expected that could change the risk profile.
  • Manage the insurance renewal and selection process for assigned accounts, including insurance program analyses, pricing negotiations, and presentation of vendor proposals and potential risk exposure to client executives.
  • Due Diligence for any potential acquisitions, mergers, or sale of existing entities.
  • Identify potential opportunities for cross-sell and organic growth for assigned book of business.
  • Develop and monitor client service plans in conjunction with claims and loss control on an annual basis.
  • Facilitate communication of large/crucial claims to service team members and collaborate with the claims team to identify best communication strategy with client and who needs to be involved.
  • Participate in presentations to existing and prospective clients.
  • Review clients’ operational, contractual, and financial exposure to loss.

Service Team Oversight

  • Oversee team’s ongoing service items to ensure the service plan is being executed and that the service team is meeting all expected timelines and deliverables.
  • Aid in developing the team’s Account Managers and Assistant Account Managers professionally and ensuring they understand their current role as well as future career path.
  • Manage Account Receivables and facilitate collection of monies from clients.
  • Utilize external and internal resources to educate the team with insurance or staffing industry knowledge.
  • Build replicable policies and procedures that create efficiencies within the service team.
  • Understanding of team atmosphere and contemplating how change affects the entire team.
  • Communicate clearly to surrounding team members, producers, and COO on day to day & renewal responsibilities as well as problematic situations.

Knowledge & Skill Requirements

  • Ability to work with minimum supervision; able to accept direction on given assignments.
  • Knowledge of MS Office Products, Word, Outlook and advanced knowledge of excel.
  • Demonstrated flexibility and adaptability to changing priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail to ensure document accuracy.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment with strong customer service skills.
  • Excellent phone etiquette, written and verbal communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to travel domestically for client visits and the occasional relevant industry conference.
  • Experience with a broker/agent, including marketing large middle market accounts to carriers; excellent knowledge of the markets a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of all basic P&C coverages. In-depth understanding of loss sensitive and/or captives is preferred.
  • Superior presentation and relationship skills in this highly client interactive role.
  • Minimum 5 years relevant Commercial Lines experience (10+ years’ experience preferred).
  • College degree preferred.
  • Licensed in property and casualty insurance preferred.
